I have turned selling old jewelry into a full time job. I read how the price of gold was going up last year and since it kept rising, I went around to garage sales, estate sales and flea markets and bought up some of the ugliest pieces that no one else wanted, but they were made of 14k gold. I took them to a local jewelry store and started my selling old jewelry business.
After selling old jewelry a few times to the local stores, I discovered that if you sell old jewelry to the mail source businesses, you can actually get about twenty to thirty percent more money. I have about six companies that I use, that I mail to. They have all always gotten me my check within a few days. The first time that I did sell old jewelry to them, it was kind of strange to send off the pieces in the mail and have to just trust that they would send me the money back.
Now that I have been doing this for so long, I do not even think about it anymore. I do however make sure to use the same companies that I know that I can trust.
